The Hotel
Built by three brothers in 1903, the hotel was the first accommodation facility in Champoluc and one of the first in Aosta Valley.
Not just a building, the hotel and its dépendance contain more than a century of history, of life: from the passage of several journalists and personalities such as the famous “Maestro” Toscanini, to the no less important life experiences of co-workers and individual guests.
The Hotel Breithorn was open and managed by various heirs until the late 1970s.
During the period of its closing, the hotel did not lose its fame but was even chosen by film director Francesco Nuti to be the shooting set for some scenes of one of his films.
Later, the historic hotel was bought and renovated, while retaining its original structure. It was then reopened in the early 2000s.
Today, five friends, who for years have been committed to bringing, each in their own field, the same ideal of hospitality, once again find themselves united in the same goal: to revive an atmosphere rich in history, after 120 years, amidst the hotel’s wood panelling, cosy spaces and original architecture.

Champoluc and Mount Rosa
The municipality of Ayas is located at the head of the beautiful valley ploughed by the Evançon stream and dominated by the Mount Rosa massif and its towering peaks.
The landscape is very varied, with glaciers and rugged rock faces flanking gently sloping meadows and pastures.
The area is fragmented into numerous villages, each with its own landscape and architectural characteristics.
The best-known village is Champoluc, at 1568 metres above sea level, a holiday destination in both winter and summer.
Antagnod, where the Ayas Town Hall is located, on the other hand, is a village at an altitude of 1710 metres with a magnificent panorama.
Also, characteristic are the hamlets of Frachey and Saint-Jacques and the villages of Crest, Cuneaz, Pilaz and Mascognaz, where the old dwellings, the traditional “rascards”, have been skilfully preserved.
In addition, Champoluc has a very dense history, rich in traditions, such as wood carving, zootechnical practices and the processing of typical products, which make one appreciate the culture of a people tied to their territory, but also open to change, having always been a place of passage and encounter.
Winter
The resort is renowned for winter sports with the well-known Monterosa Ski facilities, which, with more than 150 km of slopes, connect Val d’Ayas, the Gressoney Valley and Valsesia.
Ski mountaineering enthusiasts will find numerous itineraries, while the more daring can enjoy heliskiing and savour the thrill of an off-piste descent by ascending in a helicopter.
There is also a cross-country skiing track for those who want to be totally immersed in nature.
Summer
In summer, a veritable open-air gym for day trips, trekking, mountain biking, trail running, climbing, mountaineering, yoga and wellness, in addition to all the other outdoor activities that will be available to you.
